That being said, does any of this surprise you?? Iran is looking for a war, so they'll take it via proxies, an attack on them, or now by attacking others. This seems to be the latest and most important thing going on right now. The END of the world as we know it will occur if in fact Israel goes against the advice of the USA and Europe and attacks Iran. The reality is we will not intervene and we will say " we told you so". We have made it clear that this is not the stage or time in which to do such a thing. They are banking on the fact that we still have a huge military presence in Afghanistan that we are about to start calling home. They want to make sure we do not pull our boys home and have to send them back out for Israel. It never seem's to fail the more anyone tries to negotiate with Iran the louder their threat's become. I know there is a language difference but they always seem to be on a different page.

The Iranians are now threatening to strike first. I almost wish they would try something so that we can get this over with and put an end to their pursuit of nuclear weapons, as well as their insane leadership, once and for all. Trying to negotiate is a waste of time. All the Iranians are doing with these offers to negotiate is buying time. They are hoping to forestall any actions to stop them long enough for them to achieve their goal of building nuclear weapons.

As far as comparing Iran's statements to those of Israel, Israel has not been calling for the destruction of another nation, that is the Iranians. Does anyone really think a country should sit back and let a self proclaimed enemy bent on your total destruction develop the weapons they need to do it!!! The Iranian leadership has stated publicly, multiple times that they do not believe that Israel has any right to exist and that it is their mission to wipe Israel off the map. Does anyone really expect the Israelis to sit back and let them develop nuclear weapons to do it with.

The recent Iranian releases regarding their work on their Fordo nuclear enrichment facility makes it pretty clear that they are looking at more than civilian nuclear power. Their claim that the 20% enriched uranium they are producing is only for a research reactor is an obvious lie. This is because they have already enriched many time the amount of uranium needed to fuel this research reactor to this higher level. The only reason for this massive production of 20% enriched uranium is as a precursor to further enrichment to weapons grade. The IAEA estimates that Iran has enough uranium stock to make enough highly enriched uranium to fuel approximately 15 good sized nuclear weapons.

The Iranian efforts towards installing new generation centrifuges capable of far more rapid enrichment of uranium also clearly indicates their plans to develop nuclear weapons. Since they already have far more 20% enriched uranium than they need for peaceful purposes, the only reason for upgrading a facility designed for higher level enrichment is to facilitate production of weapons grade material. Once they have these new centrifuges installed, the time they will need to produce weapons grade material will be uncomfortably short. It ill be to the point that they could have the material produced before we could plan and execute a strike on the facility to try and stop them. In addition, this facility was built well underground, making it very hard to take out and also clearly indicating its military purpose. Peaceful nations do not build facilities like this deep underground and deny IAEA inspectors access to the facility if their purpose is peaceful.

It is time to stop screwing around and allowing the Iranians to stall with the hollow promise of talks. None of the many rounds of talks to date have resulted in any progress on getting them to stop. They have no intention of changing their plans to develop nuclear weapons and only military action will stop them.

Can you tell me when the last time Iran attacked another country was? If Iran is working on a nuclear weapon wouldn’t they at least have to test it at some point of time? After ensuring that the device works it now has to be integrated into a weapons system and tested again. You also have to have enough material to build several of these weapons if you expect to be able to use them or establish a deterrent capability.

Now let's assume that Iran has several weapons and has developed a reliable delivery system. By the way, this would take years (probably decades) to accomplish and a great deal of resources they do not have. Why would they attack another country that has hundreds of these weapons with far more capable delivery systems and defense capabilities? -- (don't bring up the psychopath argument .... if that was true Iran would have attacked long ago).

There is more to this issue than meets the eye – what most everybody is responding to at this time is manipulative propaganda beating the drums of war. N korea and Pakistan both have nukes and delivery systems. N korea would be happy to trade 5 nukes for $20 billion in oil. They would even sell nuclear garbage for Iran to make dirty bombs. As for the persuit of nuclear arms, you only really need to test portions of your nuclear device, and this can be done with non-nuclear results. The actual "nuclear bomb" portion of nuclear weapons is well understood. Full nuclear tests are simply a way of announcing that you have it, or attempting to improve on an existing design methodology. Iran does not have to do either. As for the delivery system, Google "iran missle test" they already have it.

Actually Russia is afraid of war with USA. Here is a repost of what I replied to you earlier, and a little bit of more information. During the cold war the USA was more up to going nuclear then Russia was. Why? Because the soviets knew they really didn't have anything. Intelligence we had gathered showed that 25% of their interballistic missles wouldn't even ignite, 25% would blow up in their silos, 25% would blow up over Russia, 20% would blow up in the outer atmosphere, 4% would disintegrate on reentry. 1% is all we had to worry about, while Russia would have to worry about 95% of our incoming payload. (Taxed Enough Already) party are to return the government budget to a more sensible level and balance the budget just like you have to balance your own checkbook. The TEA party also wants to return the government to it's constitutionally mandated levels of enforcement of the law (Remember the whole Immigration problem? What part of "ILLEGAL" don't you understand?) The TEA party wants smaller government, they want the Constitution to become the "Law of the Land" once again.

What I can't understand is how it is OK, with you, for the government to take out trillions of dollars of unsecured loans that will have to be paid back by our great grandchildren without their consent. The founding fathers fought a revolution over much less than what is going on here in the once great USA. When will the people wake up?

The difference is that a nuclear armed Iran is not in our interests, or in the interests of the western world. Nor is it in the world's interests.

With each new nation which joins the nuclear weapons club, it increases the likelihood that either some world leader will use a nuclear bomb, or that such a weapon will fall into the hands of a terrorist group.

I'm not advocating war with Iran, and despite their saber rattling, I do not believe Iran wants to take preemptive action against the U.S. But I do feel we should use all non-military means to dissuade Iran from attaining a nuclear weapons capability.

BTW: I do not believe anybody has a problem with Iran's pursuit of nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, such as the generation of electricity.

Of course its not in the interest of the west. If they get the bomb, we won't be able to invade them. We might even have to deal with them on a even diplomatic footing.

The only thing is iran will not use it for peaceful purposes. There is nothing peaceful about that sand pit.

Because a by-product of nuclear generated electricity is plutonium. The super powers are worried that Iran is using nuclear generated electricity as a loophole to get nuclear weapons.

My of the super powers are trying to reduce nuclear weapon stockpiles and two keep weapons of this magnitude limited to the countries that already have them. Iran is challenging this. In an ideal world, it wouldn't be a problem for Iran to have nukes. The problem is, its not an ideal world. If they get nukes then certain actions will follow that could lead to world war III. Nobody wants that. In this day and age, nearly all land life on our planet will be destroyed by that war.

The world has changed too much over the last 70 years. If every person in this world had a magic button that they could press to end the world, then you know that someone would eventually get suicidal and press the button. The same thing holds true if every country in the world has access to this magic button. Eventually, some country will feel threatened and press it. I wish that the USA, Russia, UK, France and etc. did not have these magic buttons. That being said, they have them and you can't take them away or they will press them. Lets work together to insure that no more countries get the magic buttons. I hope this is clear...its a matter of world survival and is much larger than a single country.

Besides that, Iran is threatening to attack the free world, not to generate nuclear power. Did anyone read the story? We don't get any oil from Iran, so if Iran disappears tomorrow, (a good idea) there should be no interruption in our oil.

Should there be an interruption in our oil, we have more than enough in this country for the next 200 years in the Dakotas, Wyoming and Montana. Our biggest source of "foreign oil" is from Canada. They are begging to sell us more, and when we get rid of this Muslim president, that is just what will happen.

The middle east is on the way out as an oil supplier. The threats, wars and general destructive behavior is too expensive per barrel of oil. Screw them. Unless they open fire, and then blow them to Allah's outhouse.
